Chateau de Rubelles

The Château de Rubelles, located in the commune of Rubelles, near Melun, was built in the 17th century and remodeled and enlarged in the 19th century. A building called the Hostellerie already occupied this site in the 13th century. The estate covers 38 hectares in a single block, and the park contains several buildings listed as Historical Monuments for their architecture: the courtyard pavilion, the machinery pavilion, and the rest pavilion located at the southern end of the pond. The château also houses distinctive earthenware, an art form that originated in Rubelles as early as 1838 and whose pieces are highly sought after by collectors. The château belonged to the same family from its construction, the du Tremblay family, until 2000, when it was purchased by the current owners.
